Walk-behind mower

What type of fuel should I use for my mower?

Ordinary 4-stroke petrol. But we recommend alkylate petroleum (Aspen 4T Petrol), because it is more stable, keeps the engine and carburettor cleaner inside and produces less emissions.

Tractor/Rider

My Tractor/Rider engine won’t start. Why?

If nothing happens when you turn the key, your battery is probably dead. Charge it and try again. Also check for a blown fuse. Check and fill the tank with fresh fuel.

Why doesn’t my Tractor discharge grass properly?

The most obvious reason is that you have forgotten to clean the cutting deck, so wet or old grass is clogging the outlet.

Why does my Tractor/Rider make an uneven cut?

The cutting blade or blades may be dull or bent. The blade spindle bearing may be loose. Check your user’s manual for the right cutting angle of the deck.

Why do the shear pins on the cutting deck break?

The shear pins are meant to be the weakest part and should break if you for instance cut into a hard object like a stone or ttree stump. Check the blade in case repair or sharpening is required.

What checks should be preformed before use?

Check the engine’s oil level. Check the fuel tank. Check the cutting deck.

Chainsaws

Why won't my chainsaw start?

It might be old fuel or residue clogging the filter or the carburettor. To remedy this, fill the tank with fresh fuel. Excess soot on the spark plug can prevent the spark from sparking. The plug might be soaked in fuel, if you have tried to start the saw too many times with the choke engaged. To solve this, remove the spark plug and check it, clean it and wipe it. With the spark plug removed, pull the starter cord a few times to get the engine dry. Screw in the spark plug and follow the starting instructions.

How do I lubricate the bar and chain?

Simply keep the oil tank filled with recommended chain oil. The oil pump will lubricate the bar and chain automatically.

How do I reset the chain brake?

The chain brake is reset by pressing it towards the front handle. When you hear and feel a distinct click, the chain is free and the brake is reset.

Trimmer/Brushcutter

Why doesn’t the head turn, when I press the throttle?

Grass, twigs etc might have got jammed in the head. Stop the engine and check. The head might have come loose from the spindle. The axle might be broken.

My brushcutter blade wobbles. Can it be aligned?

Yes it can but be very careful. If you are in doubt, we recommend you buy a new one.

How often do I need to clean the air filter?

If you make a habit of cleaning it every time you use your machine, you won’t need to worry.
